How do I get onto the A-Team?

There are two ways to become a member of the A-Team. You can either (1) try out for the A-Team at the beginning of the academic school year or (2) challenge either one of the players occupying the last two non-exec spots on the A-Team to a match and win.

What is the format for a challenge match?

Challenge matches are best of 3 set matches with regular scoring. In the event of split sets, a 10-point tiebreak (win by 2) will be played instead of a third set, unless otherwise agreed upon. Players ranked outside of the top 10 may challenge two spots ahead of them, while players ranked inside the top 10 may only challenge one spot ahead. In the event that a lower seed wins a challenge against a seed two spots ahead (i.e. #17 beats #15), then the player who won takes the losing player's spot, and the losing player moves down one (i.e. #17 goes to #15, #15 goes to #16, and #16 goes to #17).

If player A challenges player B to a match, player B has one week to accept the match before forfeiting, unless otherwise agreed upon.

Notify Nicholas Hoelting (nehoelting@wm.edu) of challenge match results to update the ladder.

What is the attendance policy for A-Team members?

A-team members will be required to attend one practice per week! This does not have to be the Wednesday practice; you can also attend on Tuesday or Thursday to meet the requirement. If you do not attend one practice a week for any three weeks during the semester, you will be removed from the A-team ladder.
